What Does Wii Mean In Japanese?

Nintendo Wii Is Changing History by Paul Hornberger

Wii means ‘we,’ which is fundamentally what the game is all about. It speaks of friends gathering to play Legends of Zelda or two boxing enthusiasts attempting to outmatch each other with punches and jabs. But, in truth, Wi consolei is actually changing history, particularly in how we define interaction when it pertains multiplayer and one-on-one games. It’s as well setting a new trend in the industry, frightening off a number of Nintendo’s major competitors, such as Sony and Microsoft.

Below is the official Wii explanation from Nintendo:

Introducing … Wii.
As in "we….
While the code-name "Revolution… expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.
Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.
Wii will put people more in touch with their games … and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we,… which emphasizes this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii… spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because, it’s really not about you or me.
It’s about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything.

It took the design engineers two years before they can fully finalize the full look and feel of Wii. Encompassing all of the leading markets across nations, Nintendo was set to transport the first Wii Consoles to Oceania, Europe, South America, and Asia. They had already scheduled their release dates and even prices. However, even before its actual release, the world is already clamoring for it. As a matter of fact, the United Kingdom experienced massive shortage when Nintendo Wii finally came on December 8, 2006. This is because they were not capable of meeting the demands of pre-orders. Even high-end technology stores didn’t have that much to fulfil the hunger of gamers for this revolutionary gaming console. The U.S.A., on the other hand, received the same dilemma when their supply falls short to the demand around June 2007.

Great News for Nintendo

The Japanese company Nintendo certainly finds great luck in their Wii console. Beginning from the time that it was launched in the marketplace until now, it has experienced growing sales, even baffling its rivals such as Playstation 3, which has been taking on several technical problems, and Xbox360. A report released by the NPD Group, one of the biggest research companies in the world, revealed that Nintendo Wii far surpasses the combined sales of Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 during the half 2007. Sometime in September 2007, Wii is gaining momentum over Xbox 360, which was launched in 2006, making the former the leading brand in the world of gaming consoles. It’s also the fastest-selling handheld device for games in all of Australia’s gaming history.

Managing Its Production Costs

Among the secret weapons Nintendo did to make certain that they are definitely capturing sales is to reduce their production costs. This way, they may extend their profit margin. Hence, in Japan alone, every Wii unit sold can give the company a return of almost $15. It’s more than doubled if you speak about the sales achieved in Europe as well in the U.S.A..

It’s all in the Console

Most of all, what seals the history of Nintendo Wii is its ability to allow for a different degree of playing experience for its users. There are no joysticks, which they have to learn to use before they can fully appreciate a game. All it entails is simple moves of your hands, and you can definitely have fun with sword slashing, mountain climbing, arm wrestling, and even the very plain console game of angling

What’s the future for Wii? Nobody knows for certain. However, there’s only one thing that remains: it will continue to revolutionize the gaming world and, in fact, history. For more information on Nintendo Wii please visit http://www.wii-info.com

The Nintendo Wii Fit The Next Fitness Revolution

Watch out for the widely popular Nintendo Wii Fit. The Wii Fit is Nintendo’s attempt to turn coach potatoes into exercise fanatics. It truly will become the next fitness revolution.

Are you getting fat and flabby from gaming too much and coach potatoing? Do you find the only exercise you get reaching for the bowl of Cheetos? Are you fed-up and wish you could do something about it, while not giving up your gaming passion? Well now there’s a solution to your unhealthy woes. Now you can get healthy without stopping your gaming. Get fit while still playing games. Enter the Nintendo Wii Fit. Already sweeping across Japan, this new addition to the Wii will release here in the states this May.

If you have been living under a rock, or are just not a gamer then you may not be aware of the Nintendo Wii Fit. Well, in short it is a fitness revolution. A wonderful idea by Nintendo allowing you to get up and get active while playing games. The Wii Fit comes with a pressure-sensitive balance board that looks like a thin bathroom scale. Just put it on the floor and step right on. Once on the board you can experience all sorts of fun and challenging fitness-oriented activities, such as, aerobics, yoga and various stretching and balancing routines. Actually, the Wii Fit comes with over 40 activities and exercises for you to choose from. In addition, it will even check your Body Mass Index (BMI), give you a Wii Fit Age, and keep tabs on your daily exercise progress. It is the hope that the fun interactive aspect of the Wii Fit will engage and hook people in ways traditional exercise cannot.

If you tend to like getting outdoors to cycle and/or run then obviously this tool will not get the job done for you. But if you like to exercise in the privacy of your own home on your nice cushy living room carpet then it could be the answer to all your problems.

There are many people heralding this breakthrough in fitness. I am one of them. This is a bold step for Nintendo. And a wise one as well. No longer will the Wii be a thing for gamers only. The Wii Fit will capture the interest of all sorts of people, ever widening Nintendo’s fan base. I can certainly envision a future of Nintendo exercise. Whole exercise and fitness clubs devoted to this appliance.

Now I don’t know if the Nintendo Wii Fit is right for you or not. But I am convinced that regardless of your current exercise regime, or lack thereof, it would provide an excellent starting point or supplement for you. Do make sure that before you buy, you try it out first. Run over to your local distributor (opportunity to exercise) and see if you can give it a whirl. Only you can determine if the Nintendo Wii Fit is your next fitness revolution.

Be aware the Nintendo Wii Fit is so hugely popular that here are shortages across the U.S. If you want to get one you will more than likely have to place your name on a waiting list. Also, in order for everyone to be able to get one of these wildly popular units many retailers are limiting the amount that you can purchase. For instance, Amazon is limiting your purchase to three per family.
